Preparing for Graduation

Junior Year (1st Semester) or earlier

1. Apply for Degree on Hokie SPA.
2. Review Diploma Name on Application for Degree
3. Request DARS Report on Hokie SPA
4. Review DARS Report with your adviser

Junior Year (last semester)

• Begin making arrangements for out of town guests to attend graduation (hotel accommodations)

Senior Year (1st Semester)

1. Request DARS Report on Hokie SPA
2. Review DARS Report with your advisor

Senior Year (Semester you Graduate)

1. Request DARS Report on Hokie SPA
2. Review DARS Report with your advisor

Senior Year (1 month before Graduation)

• Review the Commencement Information page for commencement dates, times and locations
• Visit Bookstore to purchase cap and gown, announcements, etc.
• Report your First Destination
  

Follow the steps below to apply for your degree. Applying for your degree enables you to run a DARS.

• Log onto Hokie SPA
• Click on "Graduation Menu"
• Click on "Undergraduate Student Degree Menu" or "Associate Student Degree Menu"
• Click on "Application for Degree"
• Select your appropriate level and click "Submit"
• Click on the "Apply" button next to the appropriate major
• Review your name as it will appear on your diploma
• Indicate your expected term of completion (graduation term)
• Select "which degree is this"
• Indicate your hometown information
• Indicate which ceremony you will be attending (please note that choosing "I will not be attending" will excuse you from the departmental ceremony* in the Spring).
• Click "Submit"
• If prompted, enter an address for your diploma, click "Submit"
