Guest/Parent Account Access
General Information
The guest account feature on Hokie SPA allows a student to release specific types of information, such as grades, financial aid information, and account summary, to selected individuals. An individual will continue to have the specific access they were granted throughout a student's academic career, unless the student removes the access.
For Students:
To grant guest account access:
- Log into Hokie SPA with your student PID and password.
- Select "Guest Account Access".
- Enter the email of the individual you wish to grant access. (visual graphic)
- Select the type of information you wish to release.
- Select "Grant Access".
For Guests:
Once a student has invited you to create a guest account, you will receive two e-mails. The first e-mail will notify you that you have been invited to create a guest account and will contain a link to create your guest account. See example email here. The second e-mail will contain the name of the student and the information released to you. See example email here. Note: The link in the e-mail to create the guest access will only be valid for 48 hours.
If you are a Virginia Tech employee or already have access to Virginia Tech systems you will receive a single email and utilize your VT credentials for accessing guest access. See example email here.
Once login credentials are created you will be able to login to guest access and view the areas that access is available to you for. See example here.
Should a student decide to remove access from particular information, email notification will be sent to you. You will still be able to log into the Guest Account Information Gateway, however, you will only be able to view the information that has been released to you.
